Nicko arrived today in Bahia at 15:27 after completing the 2nd leg in 18 days, 2 hours, 10 minutes and 3 seconds. This left him in 4th place on Leg 2 of the Mini Transat. Coupled with his first leg he finishes overall in 5th place out of the 89 competing boats. |

After being delayed by bad weather, the first leg of the Mini Transat 2007 finally got underway on September 18th headed from La Rochelle to Madeira. You can check out the race website and also the real time race tracker. The second leg from Madeira to Salvador in Brazil begins on October 6th. |

This week saw the release of the the final entry list for many of this years races. We made applications for entries in five races and ended up securing place in four of those. They were the
- Pornichet Select
- Open Demi-Cle
- Trophee MA Peron
- Transcasgogne
We are currely in 32nd place on the waiting list for the Mini Fastnet.
All of this year's Atlantic races were oversubscribed on entry day. The popularity of the class was underlined by the Transcascogne which had 156 entries for only 75 places. |

The official entry list has now been released. This is the document that finally confirms our position in the Mini Transat 2007.
This year required 3,100 miles to make it into the final 75 (up from 72 last Transat). This compares with 1,240 miles that was required to make the cut for the Transat 05. Our 16th place on the year is reward for the miles raced in the Atlantic circuit this season where we raced every race apart from the Chrono (time trial event). |

The Paris Boat Show (Salon Nautique de Paris) traditionally marks the official opening of entries for the following years's Mini Transat. It was again the case this year and many mini sailors gathered to submit their entries of the Mini Transat 2007. The first weekend of the show also sees the hosting of the Assemblée Générale (AG) - the meeting of Classe Mini members. I travelled from London to France via Eurostar for the weekend to hand deliver my entry and attend the AG.
For myself, the weekend also provided an opportunity to meet with sail makers and finalise decisions on who I'd like to design next years sail wardrobe. After considerable thought, I've decided to go with Remi from the All Purpose loft in La Trinité sur Mer. The All Purpose loft have a both a strong involvement and good track record with Minis.

Do you get lonely sailing solo? |

Not usually. Whilst I would probably get lonely if if was out cruising by myself for weeks at a time, racing is quite different. The level of focus you have to have on sailing the boat to 100% of its potential means that you usually don't have time to be lonely. Between helming, trimming sails, doing sail changes, thinking about weather, eating and sleeping there is just not time for thinking about being lonely. |
